GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Hundreds of people in the Grand Junction community walked around Las Colonias Park to bring awareness to Muscular Dystrophy.
This is the fifth annual muscle walk. The Muscular Dystrophy Association wants to bring awareness to over 43 muscular diseases, including ALS.
They help with different services, medical equipment, clinics and they even put on summer camp for people with the disease. In addition to the walk, the community raised over $11,000 dollars to help with research for a possible cure for the disease.
"It means a lot to me because kids like me don't get to have really any special opportunities to walk with other kids who are in a wheelchair,” says Collbran Colorado Resident Lexi Bingham.
The association helps anyone from newborns to 80 years old.
