GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- BMX riding is not easy, but one local kid is pedaling as fast as he can...he’s ranked number one in the state for BMX riding within his age group.
5-year-old Taylor Taggart has raced in 27 local races and seven state races.
His top speed is 48.9 seconds riding dirt hills around the track. During the races, he competes against seven other riders.
His mom says he practices for about two hours a few times throughout the week.
"I race super hard to get my number one place,” says BMX Rider Taylor Taggart.
"We're always right there on the finish line and he always has the biggest smile on his face, regardless of the outcome. So, it's been a lot of fun to just watch him grow personally,” says Taylor’s Mom Blake Taggart.
Taylor sits at 18 wins. Once he gets to 20, he’ll qualify for the expert level of his division.
