GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- A stomach bug at Palisade High left over a hundred students out sick on Wednesday, Nov. 13. On Thursday, that number went up to 300.
D51 officials say they don't know exactly what is spreading, but it seems to be some sort of norovirus with the main symptoms of vomiting. They say it is not connected to the cafeteria.
"So when numbers get that high, it just makes a lot more sense to just closed the school down send everybody home and make sure those germs aren't spreading back and forth anymore,” says D51 Emily Shockley.
Cleaning crews will be doing a deep clean, which is why school will be closed on Friday, Nov. 15. Doors will open again on Monday morning.
