GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- A local church delivered two thousand meals to people in need today, all in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
Canyon View Vineyard had over 600 volunteers helping to prepare and distribute meals to every zip code in the Grand Valley.
The Salvation Army donated most of the food.
Every year, people in the community send a list of names of people who may need a meal on Thanksgiving.
Officials say most of the people are single and elderly.
“You know, God tells us that He wants us to not just be hearers of the word, but doers of the word. And this is what we’re encouraging people to do here today. Not just to hear about loving your neighbor, but to go out and do it. So, this is an incredibly exciting time for us," says Canyon View Outreach Coordinator Dave Rohlman.
The meals were packed with things like turkey, stuffing and potatoes.
