Local company gifts Boy Scout troop with $1,000 dollars after they lose money

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Last week local Boy Scout troops lost money after some of their credit card sales didn’t go through at their Christmas tree lot. Now, people in the community are stepping up to help them out.

Western Rockies Federal Credit Union is giving the troop $1,000 dollars to help cover some of the money lost.

Last Week, Around 20 trees left the lot without paying, which is about $1,600 dollars in revenue.

Troops say some people have come back to pay, but they hope that more will continue to.

“For us what really hit an emotional cord was, I guess this is how they raise money for their summer camp, and we found out that if they couldn't recover these funds, some of them might not get to go, and that was not acceptable to us,” says Marketing Coordinator Western Rockies Federal Credit Union Shea Bramer.

The troops say that they are already talking about ways they can give back to the community for their generosity.
