GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Bureau of Land Management improving the Grand Valley Off-Highway Vehicles Open Area.

The plot of land off 27 1/4 Road has always been a hot spot for off road vehicles so the BLM is currently working to make it even more enjoyable. They are currently creating an access road and parking lot for the open area. This staging area will be completed within the next few weeks.

“Part of the reason we built this new trail-head is because of the airport’s new runway expansion project, an area that was previously used extensively for OHV staging is now part of the construction zone,”said Chris Pipkin, Outdoor Recreation Planner for the BLM.

The next phase of the project will include a staging area for the existing motocross track, fencing and a two-acre venue for events.

The Grand Junction Airport provided some of the funding for the project.
