Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO)-- The M-L-K Holiday weekend, mixed with a winter storm brought hundreds of people out to Powderhorn today.
The National Weather Service says they're predicting that the higher elevations will see around eight inches of snow, freshening up the slopes for the 3-day weekend to come.
Officials say the M-L-K holiday is one of the busiest ski weeks. Presidents Day is high on that list as well.
“The snow pack is strong, we’re in about 30 inches for the base, we’re about 97 percent of terrain open at the ski resort, and there’s incoming snow which we love to see,” says Powderhorn Ski Resort Ryan Robinson.
They say around this time they typically see a 20 percent increase in folks coming to ski.
