GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It may be easy to do, especially when its cold outside but officials are warning drivers to not leave your car unattended while its running.
This week is Colorado puffer awareness week, and enforcement started Monday.
Coloradans Against Auto Theft and Colorado Auto Theft investigators have teamed up with law enforcement statewide, to bring awareness about auto thefts from puffing.
Last year, data shows there were more than 20-thousand vehicles stolen across the state.
More enforcement means an increase in warnings and citations for drivers leaving their cars running unattended, with fines of $60.
