GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- Colorado Mesa University already has an outdoor program but now the school is adding an outdoor recreation degree.
Officials at CMU say there is a need for more professionals in the field.
The degree will help students land jobs working with land management, as a fishing guide, or hunting guide.
The course will range from recreation industry courses to technical field work.
"Western Colorado is 74% public lands. We have an incredible amount of outdoor recreation opportunities here. Everything from the Grand Mesa which is the largest flat top mountain in the world, with 300 natural lakes on top,” says Director Outdoor Recreation Studies Sarah Shrader.
Students will be able to get the degree starting fall of 2020.
