Art center receives national award
The local arts center has received some national recognition.
Every year Ovation, America's only arts television network, picks twelve arts organizations across the country to honor their excellence. This year the Western Colorado Center for the Arts in Grand Junction was one of the twelve picked. The initiative is part of the network's national arts advocacy to recognize meaningful and creative work in an accessible way. Our local arts center is receiving a $10,000 grant for this award.
"The most exciting part about it is that it's not just one person's or one organization's award, it's an award for the whole community and the whole arts community," says Executive Director for Western Colorado Center for the Arts, Lee Borden.
This is the first time that a Colorado based organization has been chosen for this award. They also unveiled three new exhibitions to be displayed in their gallery.
