MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- A representative of Montrose met with White House Officials last week to discuss Opportunity Zones.
Chelsea Rosty, the director of business innovation and tourism, went to the exclusive meeting in Denver. Opportunity Zones are a new federal incentive program meant to boost investment in under capitalized communities. The meeting focused on some of the Opportunity Zone success stories as well as challenges within Colorado.
"White House officials came to Colorado to learn what Colorado has been working on and to make sure that they take back ideas from Colorado to D.C. to make sure we're not conflicting with each other and that we're actually doing complimentary services for our constituents," says the city manager, Bill Bell.
Rosty was the only representative from a local municipality.
