GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Basketball is growing in popularity at a local elementary school. But until Thursday, kids didn't have enough hoops and rims on the playground.
It’s all thanks to a generous donation from Colorado Mesa University. Taylor Wagner, the head coach of CMU Women's basketball team, has kids that go to Thunder Mountain. Wagner noticed more kids playing hoops, than hoops to play on. So, he and CMU donated rims and poles from the school that wasn't being used.
There was more to the deal though. In addition to the equipment, members of the men's and women's basketball team came to Thunder Mountain to dedicate the hoops and teach the kids about some of the skills it takes to play basketball.
