The search for the 66-year-old missing hiker, Jim Fuchs, was suspended on Saturday, June 27.

The victim was discovered early Saturday in rough terrain beyond the Devil’s Kitchen rock formation in Colorado National Monument.

The Mesa County Coroner says that multiple blunt force injuries were the cause of death,

Search teams began the night of Thursday, June 25 and resumed Friday morning after a friend notified Monument staff around 7:00 p.m. that Fuchs had not been seen. Crew and volunteers used drone equipment and thermal imaging and cameras to search the area.

Fuchs' vehicle was found at the Lower Serpents Trail parking lot, just inside the east entrance of the monument.

Searchers from the National Park Service, Mesa County Sheriff's Office and Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team were involved in the search.
