Donating blood can reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke

By  |

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Dr. Christopher Lepisto from Grand Junction Naturopath joined us on KKCO 11 News at Noon to talk about the benefits of donating blood.

He says not only does it help those in need of blood but also yourself.

Donating thins your blood and immediately cuts your risk of heart attack or stroke. Dr. Lepisto says this is based on a 1990's study that tracked over 4000 people and their cardiac events. Those who donated blood regularly had a 45% reduced risk of heart attack and stroke compared to those who did not.
