GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It was a perfect day for some family fun at the drag strip on 32 Road near Highway 50 on Sunday.

The Quick 16 Services event at the Western Colorado Dragway, in Grand Junction, was supposed to happen on Saturday but was rescheduled to Sunday because of the weather.
The race accompanied the Summit Series, which is run on a bi-monthly basis for superpro, pro, sportsman, and junior dragsters.

"It is certainly a family sport if you come out to visit. You'll see all the kids, the grandparents, mom and dad. Everybody helps, everybody digs in and does a motorsports family event," Eric Madson, board member said.

Sunday is also the 51st anniversary of the Grand Junction Drag Strip's opening. As long as the weather permits, the drag strip operates every other weekend with a full summer schedule. Friday nights are streetcar nights, and usually show off about 100 cars for nearly a thousand spectators.
