Lower Valley Fire District battled flames at a Fruita church early this morning.

This happened around 8 o'clock at Beit Lechem ministries on frontage road. We’re told a passerby saw smoke coming from the front door, and called 9-1-1. Fire fighters say there was fire and smoke damage in the two story building.

“We started in our house and we built this from scratch. It was very hard. We cried a lot this morning, but we feel there’s always something good that’s going to come out of this,” says Curtis Taylor, pastor at Beit Lechem.

Our crew on scene said the fire reached the attic of the church, and the cause is still under investigation.
