Dozens of students at Grand Junction High School stormed the front office after school on Friday to protest a change to the school's parking system.
Seniors normally park in the orange section of the lot and the juniors are in the yellow. Sophomores park along the street or in the alley.
But the school's administration is changing the parking system.
The principal said the spots and stripes will be repainted and will be available on a first come first served basis.
“It’s almost a rite of passage, We waited so many years to be able to drive or park to be able to park closer,” said Kainoa Cunningham, senior class representative.
Students are concerned that the administration was not enforcing the parking section rule and felt it was unfair.
Starting in the 2017-2018 school year, students will be required to pay $10 to park in the lot.
The district said that those cars that don't have a passare ticketed with a $5 fine.
