GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Local, state and federal agencies are working to put Grand Junction on the map.
On Friday, officials held a meeting to discuss what they’re calling the Grand Valley Momentum Initiative. Their goal is to create a more vibrant and growing future for the Western Slope.
Some said they want to reach Moab's visitor numbers, but want to get people doing more than just visiting the Colorado National Monument.
“There are a lot of folks who never come west of Vail and they identify with Colorado and they honestly don't have any sense for what western Colorado looks like and is," said Kate Graham, one of the event sponsors.
Other topics discussed include the work force, recreation activity, and public lands in the Valley.
