SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO)- "He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone," says Summit Fire and EMS Chief Jeff Berino. "He's been a valued member of our family for many years."
Ken Jones, 46, died early Saturday morning after falling off a roof he climbed up to get access to a fire that was reported in Copper Mountain. Jones was a 20-year veteran of the fire department.
Jones leaves behind a wife and two children, as well as the entire Summit Fire EMS "family." This is the first loss of life in department history.
The cause of the fall as well as the fire will be under investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
