RIFLE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A 200-foot long section of highway near Rifle collapsed Friday, making the road mostly inaccessible till Saturday morning.

Highway 325, north of Rifle, takes drivers to Rifle Gap Reservoir and Rifle Falls State Park.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, a bank failure severely damaged the road early Friday morning. The damaged section is near mile marker seven in the area of Grass Valley Road.

Road crews worked through the night Friday to install a temporary barrier so one lane could be open for alternating traffic. CDOT says it’s controlled by a portable traffic light, so drivers should expect some delays.

There’s an 11-foot width restriction for the one-lane section of the road.
