Hottest day of summer so far

Grand Junction hasn't hit the first triple-digit day of the year yet, although we came pretty close on Thursday.
Grand Junction was expected to reach a high of 99 degrees. The highest temperature so far this year was on June 28 at 97 degrees. Last summer the city reached a high of 100 degrees on July 24, 2018. And the all-time record high for Grand Junction took place back in 2005, with a scorching temperature of 106.
"The nice thing is that the humidity is low here in Grand Junction. So, going to the pool, taking a dip, some cooling is really beneficial there," said Recreation Coordinator with Parks and Rec, Pete Ashman.
With such hot temperatures, Parks and Rec want to remind people to wear sunscreen and a hat to protect your skin, and to of course stay hydrated.
