GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Suplizio Field swarmed with fans Saturday morning for the first game of the Junior College World Series.
It's a week-long baseball tournament that’s been held in Grand Junction for over 50 years.
Besides fans, the stands were packed with umbrellas, snacks, snowcones, everything you need for a whole day of baseball. And it really was the whole day, the first game between Walters State and Cowley went for four hours.
That didn’t stop the 5,000 people who showed up from having a good time.
“They got a couple home runs. I got a couple autographs, I got a bat. They signed my hat and my ball,” said Colton Johnston, JUCO fan.
Walters State beat Cowley 16 to 12.
