Local marching bands qualify for state competition

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Area marching bands were packed into Stocker Stadium Thursday.

They're all trying to qualify for the state competition later this month. Bands from across the Western Slope played for a panel of eight judges

The Colorado Mesa University marching stampede performed at the end of the event, and the presentation of awards was in the afternoon.

Fruita Monument High School took 1st place in class five.

In class four, Grand Junction High School took 3rd, Central got 2nd and Montrose took 1st.

Palisade competes in class three, they also took 1st place.
