GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Police and fire crews are investigating a deadly fire that happened Friday morning in Grand Junction.

They were called to Beautifeye Day Spa on Belford Avenue, near 12th Street, for smoke in the building. When the fire department got there, they found a man dead in the basement of the building. No word on the identity of the man or how and when he died.

Police say employees at the business got there at about 9:30 a.m., found the power out, and smoke coming out of the basement. They evacuated and called 911. When fire crews got there, they found the fire was only in the basement and wasn’t burning anymore. That’s when they found the man dead in the basement.

The Grand Junction Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire, and the coroner’s office will determine the man’s cause of death.
