Man killed in snowmobile crash in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- UPDATE: The coroner has identified Ronald Terry, 49, of Grand Junction, as the man who died in a snowmobile crash over the weekend.

The Mesa County Coroner’s office said Terry’s cause of death was blunt force head and chest injuries, and the manner of death was accident. He wasn’t wearing a helmet, and the coroner said toxicology information was still pending Monday afternoon.

Original story: A man was killed in a snowmobile crash Sunday afternoon in Grand Junction.

It happened at approximately 12:30 p.m., in the canal south of H Road near 22 Road.

Police told our crews on scene the man in his 40s failed to negotiate a turn while riding in the canal. He crashed and died at the scene.

The Mesa County Coroner will be responsible for releasing the identity of the man.

The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating the crash. It's unknown if the man was wearing a helmet or not at the time of the crash.
