More riverfront development on the way for Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The City of Grand Junction is working on another riverfront development project.

The city says it would be called the Riverfront at Dos Rios. It's close to the proposed Las Colonias Business Park, since it's also off Riverside Parkway. This project is going to have multiple uses from residential to retail, and even some park elements.

The city says the project will benefit neighborhoods in the immediate area.

"It gives them an opportunity that is literally right outside their backyard. So by virtue of these park amenities, we are hopefully enhancing their outdoor experience," said Parks and Rec Superintendent Traci Wieland.

The city is still working on getting more grant money to start the work on this project. They have just under $100,000 of the $725,000 they need. They are hoping to start construction next year.
