Western Slope Against Trafficking

GRAND JUNCTION,Co.(KKCO)-- According to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline received 20, 424 calls in 2016, had 5,748 cases reported in recent years.

Tom Acker founder of 'Western Slope Against Trafficking' says in recent years there have been several cases of sex trafficking and rings broken up here in Mesa county.

The industries in CO that tend to create possibility of exploitation:
Agriculture, tourism, construction, hotels, nail salons, massage parlors all those that exist in our community.

Acker says it "It is so important that we spread awareness about trafficking; it may not happen often In Mesa County but it is important to know about it and what to do if you are in a trafficking situation".
