GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-- It's not too late to acknowledge and honor social workers as March is National Social Work Month.
The staff at Ariel Clinical Services said there are about 650,000 social workers in the U.S. and social work is one of the fastest growing professions in the country.
Staff said social workers, who are everywhere from hospitals to schools, help people overcome challenges each day so others can live more fulfilling lives.
“They're probably some of those unsung heroes that you just don't hear enough about. A lot of times they're on the frontline when things are in the worst possible situations and they don't always get the things that they deserve because they are those people who are going to be in those stressful situations,” said Angeline Roles, the public information officer for Mesa County’s Department of Human Services.
Ariel Clinical Services said jobs in social work are expected to grow by 12 percent in Grand Junction compared to the national average of only seven percent.
