Neighbors: House of homicide suspect regular problem

CLIFTON, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- We're learning more about the Clifton woman being charged with the murder of 32-year-old Kyle Free. He's been missing since April, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's office.

Rebecca Walker, 34-years-old, is charged with his murder -- but right now, information released by the Mesa County Sheriff's office on the ongoing investigation provides more questions than answers.

We talked to neighbors of Walker's Thursday who say the house where Walker supposedly lives is regularly a problem for them.

"People using drugs for sure," Nickolas Canchola, a neighbor, said. "I've actually seen people shoot up right in front of this house right here. And I got a 5-year-old daughter and this neighborhood was really nice when we first moved in here and just whatever is going on over here is not good."

Canchola tells us Walker's house is known throughout the neighborhood to have drug and domestic violence issues.

"Whatever is going on over here is not okay," Canchola said. "We would really like it if something would happen with the police, and move these people out of here."

Even though neighbors insist Walker's address has been a hot spot for police activity, Walker doesn't seem to have a criminal history. The Mesa County Sheriff's office refused to give us a call history for the address, but Megan Terlecky, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said they have had, "numerous contacts with that address in the past year."

The sheriff's office arrested Walker Tuesday afternoon at 455 1/2 Mesa Lakes Street in Clifton. She's facing first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse charges, among others.

"To find out that a murder happened here, it is sickening," Canchola said. "Words can’t describe how I feel about it to tell you the truth."

Neighbors say in the end, they hope this investigation will shine some light on the crime problem in Clifton.

"There’s a lot of criminal activity and it’s just kind of put to the side and forgotten about," Leanda, another neighbor, said.

We're told she is being held at the Mesa County Jail on no bond.
