FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- The D-51 board has voted unanimously to name the new Fruita school: Monument Ridge Elementary.
The naming process included an online survey taken by more than 1700 people, then a committee narrowed it down to the final ten. Then another survey chose the winner. All this was decided just a couple hours after the official groundbreaking for the school.
"Its been a year in the planning process. I've been able to watch the construction process start and today just feels like we're making it official with our community to say we're going to have a great elementary school here in Fruita," says school principal, Emma-Leigh Larsen.
The school will be built on K 4/10 road which is just off of 18 1/2 road in Fruita. $25 million from the 2017 bond money is being used to build it.
