Officials: Criminal investigation underway at local business

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The U.S. Attorney General's Office confirms federal authorities are in the process of executing a court-ordered warrant at a local business.

Jeffery Dorschner, a spokesperson for the attorney general's office, confirmed it's happening at Capco in the 1300 block of Winters Avenue in Grand Junction.

“Agents have a very specific search warrant execution plan. It involves a search for documents. It involves dealing with employees. I can’t discuss what that operation plan is,” Dorschner said.

According to the company's website, "Capco is well-known for its enduring relationship with the US military, producing energetic assemblies, electrical and mechanical components, small arms weapon assemblies, weapon’s mounts, and bomb fin assemblies."

On scene, agents could be seen escorting employees one-by-one.

No one has been arrested, according to investigators. Some employees and their families are left in the dark. Employees were sent home and are now wondering if they'll have a job. They have to wait until Thursday morning to see if they can back to work.

"I just really hope this ends up not causing my husband and all the thousand of people who work there, their jobs," Summer, the wife of an employee said. "That's our main concern, we'd really like to know what's going on and if all these families are going to have a job, especially right before Christmas."

Summer said the investigators were in the office area looking through papers, and not searching the weapons.

Authorities said it could be a few days before any further details are released. Dorschner said the U.S. attorney's office, in concert with federal agents went to a U.S. district court magistrate judge because there there was probable cause a crime had been committed. They could not say who the judge was.

The company released the following in a statement:
“As always, CAPCO remains committed to providing our customers with the highest quality products and services. We are cooperating fully with the investigation and we intend to provide the same level of transparency and communication that has earned CAPCO a stellar reputation in the defense community.”
