One dead, one shot in leg following altercation in Breckenridge

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (KKCO)- 29-year-old Brendan Rye, who recently moved to Breckenridge, has been pronounced dead after an altercation between him and a 35-year-old male. The two apparently knew each other according to police.

Breckenridge Police responded to a shots fired call in the 1000 block of Grandview on November 6, at approximately 9:48 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 35-year-old male from Breckenridge with a gunshot wound to the leg. In addition, they found Rye unresponsive with significant injuries but did not appear to have been shot.

A third subject reported the call and was unharmed.

Both subjects were treated at the scene and eventually transported to the Summit Medical Center. Rye was later transported to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood where he died from his injuries.

The 35-year-old male's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
