GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- UPDATE: District 51 said in an email that a letter was sent to parents Wednesday evening about the alleged statements made by the East Middle School student.
The letter says law enforcement determined no credible threat to the school after receiving the tip Wednesday afternoon.

Original story: The Grand Junction Police Department said in a press release Thursday that a 13-year-old male student from East Middle School was arrested for allegedly making statements about carrying out a school shooting.
He was charged with interference with staff, faculty or students of educational institutions, a class one misdemeanor, and released to his parents with a summons, according to GJPD.
Police say the student allegedly discussed the shooting Wednesday morning when other students overheard, then reported it later that afternoon.
According to the press release, the student is not in school today.
