GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The Happy Camper in Palisade is set for its Grand Opening Saturday.
A year and a half ago, the city held a lottery for a new pot shop to open, and Happy Camper claimed one of the two lucky spots.
Staff says it's been a struggle to open a dispensary on this side of Colorado, but they are looking forward to educating those who may be new to using marijuana.
"There's a lot of information out there and we want to make sure that everybody is well informed about how Cannabis affects everybody and the different effects that is does have. And that's one of the key things we're looking to do here at The Happy Camper as well, is teach people who may not know," Happy Camper Store Manager, Tylor McGowan said.
Each purchase made at the store will include a tax depending on the amount spent. Purchases under $100 will have a $5 tax, up to $500 will have a $10 tax, and anything over $500 will have a $25 tax.
The Happy Camper will be having a store-wide sale Saturday for their grand opening. Doors open at 9 a.m.
