GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- There are protests over the growing crisis at immigration detention centers on the southern border happening across the country, and that includes Grand Junction.
A group of them rallied at 4th Street and Main Street in hopes of sending a message to Congressman Scott Tipton and Senator Cory Gardner, both Republicans, about the border crisis. Details have recently emerged about the deplorable conditions at detention centers at the border.
"Probably, most of us have children and grandchildren, and if any child was harmed or kept in detention we would be out here doing the same for them,” Ricki Howie, rally organizer, said.
Authorities have launched an investigation into a private Border Patrol Facebook group that reportedly mocks migrant deaths and contains crude jokes about members of Congress.
