Colorado State Senator Ray Scott has announced he will run for a seat as a Mesa County Commissioner.

In a release, Senator Scott said he has had many people reach out and encourage him to run for a position in Mesa County.

He will be running for the District 1 Mesa County Commissioner position, which is currently held by John Justman.

Senator Scott says he has experience with issues like infrastructure, energy development, and education.

He says his eleven years as a District 7 Senator is a big reason why voters should rely on him.

"Probably one of the bigger things is to make sure that we have a secure economy, and a healthy job market, and keep moving forward. But really make sure that government doesn't continue to grow on its own, the way that it naturally does," said Colorado Senator Ray Scott.

The election will be held in 2020.
