District pushes new bus app for delayed starts

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- This week's snow delay left many parents wondering when the bus would arrive at the bus stop to pick up their kids.

District 51 reminds parents to use their bus tracking app, SafeStop.

Parents can track their child's bus in real time, and get the expected time of arrival versus the usual scheduled start time. Also, it ensures kids aren't standing in the cold longer than they need to be.

“It can be easy to think it’s just two hours after the normal pick up time when they'll pick up my kid,” said Emily Shockley, spokeswoman for District 51. "But they might pick up early because of the time between stops, you want them to drive safely and slowly."

District 51 said the app is free for parents to download.

The district started using the SafeStop app last school year.

You must have your students ID number and register online, before downloading the app.
