School Board swears in incumbent board members

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Mesa County School Board swore in two incumbent members reelected at the beginning of November

Doug Levinson of District A and Paul Pitton of District B both ran unopposed on the 2019 ballot. These positions hire and work with the superintendent. The five members of the school board support the school system through policy making and budgeting decisions.

“It troubles me in a valley this large that we don’t have more people stepping up to be part of a school board or other organizations in the town that require community volunteers. It’s important because what our school district does is set the tone for the community,” District A’s Doug Levinson says.

These were the only two seats up for grabs on the school board.
They’ll each serve an additional four year term, at which point they will be term limited.
