GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO News)-- Renovations to the Two Rivers Convention Center are all done and the city celebrated the re-opening with a ribbon cutting.
Renovations started back in the fall of last year. The $7.3 million project targeted a number of external and internal improvements to the building. There is now a service corridor near the ballroom and a freight elevator that goes up to the main floor. There's also some new aesthetic improvements in the ballroom. The city says this is only the first step in the expansion process.
"Coming up in the next couple of years, [the plan is to] extend the convention center to the south and it will connect with a hotel where we will have another smaller conference facility, which will make it very convenient for conventions that are coming into town to stay in this area," says Mayor Rick Taggart.
This city hopes that these updates can attract more events and provide better service.
