Several wildfires have sparked up near Grand Junction on Friday afternoon. One is burning north of Grand Junction near Corcoran Peak, and the BLM is currently fighting this fire. The other two are burning in the remote areas of Glade Park near Jones Canyon and Sieber Canyon, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Early indication points to lightning being the primary cause of the fires.

We will continue to monitor these fires and will update this article when information is received.

Earlier today, Grand Junction reached a record high of 100 degrees. Rain is forecasted tonight, which will hopefully decrease the spread of the wildfires.
