Winds Roar Across Western Slope, 52 MPH gust recorded at GJ airport

Winds blew down trees across western colorado, the strongest guest so far was at 2:32 p.m. where a 52 MPH gust was recorded at the airport.

Pictures in this slide show were sent to us from Montrose, in the area of 1st street. This tree fell on this white car, doing some serious damage.

A Red Flag Warning continues through 11 pm tonight for areas across the western slope.

We're also under a wind advisory until 7 pm.

Trash service in the Grand Junction area is impacted, as the landfill closed late this morning.

Numerous calls have been heard over the police scanner for trees falling into power lines and onto houses. Power is also out to several hundred customers in the downtown Grand Junction area according to xcel energy's website.
