GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- Some local students are learning how to master the art of public speaking.
Monday at the Mesa County Library, students involved in the six-week Toastmasters Youth Leadership program gave speeches on their newly acquired skills. The Toastmasters Youth Leadership aims to help students speak up and work on their communication skills. Each session of the program resembles a real toastmaster meeting, with impromptu speeches and evaluations.
“We have critiques of each and every speech and each and every meeting: what they can do better, what they can improve on," says Toastmaster Member, Mary Watson.
The final day allowed students to show off their new speaking skills to family, friends and the community. The program is free to students.
