Police on the Front Range said a registered sex offender is suspected in an attempted kidnapping.

Aurora police say 32-year-old Tyler Christensen was arrested after allegedly trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl last week. She was reportedly walking home from her bus stop on Thursday when the suspect grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth. She bit the suspect's finger and got away.

The two did not know each other, according to police.

State records show Christensen is a registered sex offender. According to station archives, Christensen was arrested in 2007 for sexually assaulting an 82-year-old woman in an elevator. It happened in a building in the 800 block of Main Street.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced.

Christensen is facing unwanted sexual contact charges as well as attempted kidnapping charges.
