Winter weather isn't all fun, it can lead to some serious health risks like hypothermia.

Hypothermia is a serious medical problem when your body loses too much heat, causing body temperatures to sink dangerously low.

Staying in the cold for too long, not wearing warm clothes and being in wet clothes can all lead to hypothermia.

"Hypothermia starts by being exposed to conditions. This can happen at forty degrees, especially if you're wet," said Heidi Belatti, Mesa County Public Health.

Some signs are stiff muscles, confusion and trouble speaking.

If you believe someone may have hypothermia call 911 immediately.
