In Grand Junction this weekend, 135 teams from 5 different states are competing for a title at the Grand Mesa Invitational Soccer tournament.
The annual GMIT Border Battle is being held both Saturday and Sunday at Canyon View and Longs Park.
On the field the tournament provides two days of competition for boys teams aging from 9 to 19 and girls teams from 9 to 14.
The tournament championship matches will be held on Sunday afternoon. And according to Tournament Director Larry Johnson the conditions couldn’t have been much better.
“We were looking forward to this with everything we went through this last week, knowing what type of day we were going to have today and like you said tomorrow is even going to be nicer,” said Johnson.
