GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Josh Brown arrived on the CMU campus in 2015 as a freshman and now as a senior for Colorado Mesa football he is taking his game to new heights.
"Josh should have a huge role for us. I think he is going to be one of the top punt return guys in the country and he is also an outstanding receiver. I think he is going to have his best season yet," said head coach Russ Martin.
Last season the Las Vegas native caught two touchdowns for more than 600 yards and the key to his play on the field is not just the skill set that he shows on the field.
"My mental game helps me a ton. I can see a defense and know what they are in. It comes down to knowing my opponent, and I watch as much film as I can," said Brown.
In 2018 Brown will be a huge part of the Maverick offense whether it is on offense or special teams. Senior quarterback Eystin Salum has a close connection with Brown and it shows when the two are together on the football field.
"To be able to rely on Josh is huge for me. His numbers don't always tell the story. I think he is an All-American on the field,"said Salum.
Josh Brown and CMU football will kick off their 2018 season on September 1st at home when they host South Dakota Mines at Stocker Stadium.
