GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Golf is a sport that tests you both mentally and physically when you hit the links. Grand Junction sophomore Gracie Olkowski has found a way to excel at both.
Gracie has been playing golf since she was old enough to pick up a club and her time spent on the links with her family has her on course for a run at a State Championship in 2018.
"My success is owed to my dad , who was always pushing me to play while becoming a better player. Then my brother started playing golf at a young age and I just joined when I was a little bit older,"said Olkowski.
Gracie is still an underclassman , but she has turned into one of the top golfers on the Western Slope. When you ask those around her, they say her potential on the course is sky high.
"It would be a no brainer for a college coach to try and scoop her up as soon as they possibly can. She is going to be a special golfer,"said Grand Junction head coach Sandy Story.
In Gracie's last two times on the course she has hit back to back scores of 69. On Tuesday she will look for her second straight District 51 Girls Individual title and her game is continuing to get better at the right time.
"It has definitely come all together in the past year for sure, and I am ready to take the next step in my game,"said Olkowski.
