Local Sports: WSL swim meet wraps up

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) It was the final day of action on Sunday for the Western Slope league swim meet on the campus of Colorado Mesa.

The 300 swimmers at the event had their last chance to qualify for the Colorado State long course swim meets that will be held next weekend in Denver and July 27-29th in Colorado Springs.

The meet wrapped up what has been a long regular season for all of the swimmers on the Western Slope. Most of the swimmers that had already qualified used the event as a warm up for the state and zones meets.

"This isn't like one of the main meets. It is not as of a big deal as some other meets, but I think it is going to help a lot with preparing me for the regional zones,"said Mavericks Aquatics swimmer Sarah Cook.
