GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Colorado Mesa athletics is set to kick off their fall seasons in less than a month, but Thursday night it was all about getting to hang out with the community.

Six different CMU sports teams and coaches visited the Grand Junction Farmer's Market. They had the chance to visit with people and play a cornhole for prizes at the CMU tent.

For the coaches and players at the event, they say these type of opportunities give the community a chance to put a face to a name.

"All of our athletes, coaches, and programs are apart of this community and this community is apart of us. I think just having a chance to interact with the people is a great opportunity for everyone involved," said CMU head football coach Russ Martin.

Colorado Mesa volleyball will kick off the Maverick fall season on August 24th when they play a tournament in Irvine, California against Cal-State- L.A.
