HS Boys Golf: Players shake off rust at Wildcat Invitational

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) Fruita Monument hosted the Wildcat Invitational at Redlands Mesa Golf Course on Tuesday.

Fruita along with Grand Junction, Central, Palisade and Montrose were all in action.

"These are the first tournaments you're just trying to get settled in with your team and settled in with your swing because you should be swinging all summer," said Grand Junction junior Nate Frahm. "You're just finally getting settled in to make better scores and stuff."

Apsen, Basalt, Moffat County and Vail Mountain were on the course as well.

It's one of the first regular season tournaments but one of the last before school starts,

The golfers are looking to get back into season form.

"Just consistency, really," said Fruita Monument senior Blake Andersen. "Try and stay as close to level pars as you can and try to make a lot of pars, really."

Aspen's Dominic Lanese IV placed first in the tournament shooting -3.
